THE Marikina Regional Trial Court has acquitted three ministers of the Members of the Church of God International (MCGI), also known as the “Ang Dating Daan” (ADD) in a murder case filed against them more than 15 years ago. Pacheco of RTC Branch 165 dismissed the complaint filed by Bernardo Santiago against ADD ministers, Emilio Magdaraog, Rolando Ocampo and Ferdinand Umbalin on February 23, 2002 for failure of the prosecution to prove the guilt of the accused beyond reasonable doubt. Eliseo ‘Eli’ Soriano, who was also implicated in the case, was acquitted by Judge Geraldine Fiel Macaraig of Branch 192 on February 11, 2010 when the court granted the Demurrer to Evidence filed by Soriano for failure of the prosecution to prove Soriano’s guilt beyond reasonable doubt.

“The Court has found that the evidence is indeed insufficient to hold accused Eliseo Soriano liable under the charge,” Macaraig said in her decision.
